Cheque facility won't be withdrawn, says the govt
It is a matter of relief that the Union Government has clarified that cheque facility won't be withdrawn.

There were stray reports that an overenthusiastic government favaouring total digitalisation may go in for banning the cheque books.


It is gratifying to note that the government won't proceed with the reforms this way.

At least 28 killed, hundreds injured in Dera followers' violence
Massive violence broke out in Haryana and surrounding areas following the conviction of Gumeet Ram Rahim Singh, chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, a peculiar cult.

At least twenty-eight people have been killed after large-scale violence in Haryana minutes after a special CBI court convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a 15-year old rape case.

His followers torched vehicles, TV vans and beat up media persons. Police fired tear gas and gunshots to control the angry supporters, injuring hundreds of people.

According to TV reports, the violent supporters set many government offices on fire.
