Cargo ship collision: 3 fishermen lose their lives
Three fishermen were killed on Sunday after a cargo ship collided with a fishing boat, off Cochin port.

The bulk carrier Panama-based cargo ship, Amber L,was passing through a channel off Cochin early morning at the time of the accident.

It collided with the fishing vessel, which had 14 fishermen on board, at around 2.00 am. The ship and its crew members have been detained after the Navy and Coast Guard searched the cargo carrier.

The 11 injured were rescued by fishermen in another boat. They have been admitted to various hospitals in Kochi and the condition of two of them was stated to be serious.

Earlier in February 2012, two fishermen were shot dead allegedly by Italian marines on-board an oil tanker Enrica Lexie.
