Liquor barons are quite powerful; Govt kowtows to their wishes
Now it has become quite clear, the Government has succumbed to the wishes of the bar barons.

The liquor policy has been liquidated, as the dry day order has been withdrawn.

Also new wine and beer parlours are being opened.

Those bars which are being closed would now start beer and wine parlours.

Gas tanker lorry blast at Chala, Kannur: Two killed, about 50 injured, many critical
Kannur: In a pre-Onam devastation, a tanker lorry carrying gas overturned and caught fire at Chala here and in the explosion it caused vast damages.

One woman was killed and about 50 people were injured, of whom many are critical, and houses spread over a two-km-area have been damaged.

Later, Adbul Azeez of Chala also succumbed to his injuries.

The gas tanker lorry was coming to Kozhikode from Mangalore.

The accident occurred by midnight on Tuesday.

The lorry hit the divider at Chala on the Koothuparamba-Kannur road and overturned causing gas leak and immediate fire and explosion.

At least 20 houses, 10 shops and numerous vehicles were destroyed in the devastating fire caused by the explosion.
